First visit
Your first visit, step by step
Knowing what to expect makes the first appointment easier. Here is how a first visit at EGH usually works — no surprises, no pressure.
Book or call
Request a time online, call, or WhatsApp. We’ll confirm a slot that suits you.
Arrive & settle
Bring any reports or scans and a list of medicines. Wear comfortable clothing.
We listen
Your clinician asks about your symptoms, daily life and what you want to get back to.
Assessment
Gentle movement, strength and, where needed, nerve checks — explained as we go.
A plan you agree
We explain what we found, your options, and start treatment and a home programme.
What an assessment may include
No surprises. No pressure.
A physiotherapy assessment may include:
- A conversation about your symptoms, daily life, work and goals.
- Questions to check for warning signs that need a doctor’s review.
- Watching how you move — walking, bending, reaching.
- Gentle tests of joint movement, muscle strength and flexibility.
- Nerve checks such as sensation and reflexes when relevant.
- A clear explanation of what we found, what it likely means, and your options.
You can ask questions at any point, bring a family member, and decline any test or treatment you are not comfortable with.
Questions
Questions patients ask
What should I bring to my first visit?
Any scans, reports, prescriptions or discharge summaries you have, a list of medicines, and comfortable clothing that lets us see the area of concern.
Will I get treatment on the first day?
Usually yes — after assessment we explain what we found and often start treatment and a home exercise plan the same day.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your condition and goals. We will discuss an estimate after your assessment and review progress regularly.
